We found a DIY / homemade look to a video was very appealing and not uncommon amongst the alternative rock genres- particularly with the nicher, newer bands. Therefor a lot of work was put into prop making and sourcing to keep brand authenticity and create unique features within the video.
This peach prop is a very important feature within the video as it is replicated throughout our ancillaries , therefor lot of time was spent on perfecting the look and working out its functionality. The heart needed to the same measurements as the seed within the peach in order to stick. I made the heart with quick drying clay and water colours for detail. The blood was was pored out of the tube and glitter paint was added to make it more appealing and corn syrup was added to increase the mixture. In order to give the illusion the blood was coming out of the peach on camera, we pored the blood back in to the tube and placed it so it was hidden and the singer press down on it as they were pretending to claw at the peach.

The mug shot plaque was made with black paper left over from the background and white paint. We took creative liberty with the featured text within the plaque in order to feature an 'easter egg' while also promote the bands name.
In order to film The smaller props such as the globe and the plum, we needed plain backgrounds. For practicality I made a mini white set backing out of a cardboard box and paper.
When creating the earth pinata I found that paper mache was too riggid and wouldn't rip open. As we were passionate about featuring this part in the video we got hold of a globe and took it a part. We then filled it with confetti and candy and taped it loosely back together in hope that it would easily come apart when hit. This also meant we could play with the built in lighting in first half of the video.

As our performance element doesn't contain a lipsyncing, we made sure to focus on the details of the instruments. Our lead singers guitar was decorated in a quirky collage way which coordinates well with the singers shirt. I believe the intricacy will be effected when creating a visually rich product. We also made sure to decorate the singers chair and microphone stand with fairy lights to add detail but also coordinate with the location.
To get the bands logo on the drum kit I drew it out with a black sharpie onto cellophane. This allowed us not to damage the borrowed drum kit while containing a classic logo tagged kick drum.
Our base player wasn't a main feature of the video so we wanted to coordinate the members subtle look with the guitar, so made both minimalist and black. When scouting for a keyboard we looked to our focus group when deciding on the best look, it was decided that this one was best as it didn't look immature nor too formal. They also liked the 80's style font featured on the keyboard and felt it fitted with the over all look.
