Lighting

We would like to use low key lighting during the performance shots, we would like to highlight this night time effect preparing the audience for the dark transition within the lyrics.  The fact that it would be low light ultimately would emphasise the lanterns and fairy lights to give the space a retro, vibrant image. Also this new coordinated, retro style within the punk/ alt rock genre and emphasises the DIY look we're going for. Andrew Goodwin's theory states lighting helps set the tone of the music video, and a change of lighting can also reflect the change in the beat or change in the tone. This can also be used to amplify a change- in our case-lyrics. We want to create a warm tone within the beginning verses and chorus of the song with the use of orange/peachy coloured lights this is used to reflect the warm, light exterior of the music and lyrics at the very beginning of the song. Like in suggested in Goodwin's theory, having images and lighting associated with the music and as well as the lyrics of the song can increase the chances of the audience member feeling connected as well as engaged therefor promoting the song. To contrast this we'd also feature cold coloured lights to portray the juxtaposition within the lyrics.

Toward the end of our video we are planning on everything generally being warped and darker. This change will act symbolically but will also make the video more engaging. We would us a wave projector and set it to red to do so. The red has connotations of danger, rebellion as well as blood which has associations with the lyrics during this specific section, 'cut'.
